I love to dig into my older Stampin' Up! stamps, and this retired "Button Buddies" seemed like the perfect stamp for what I wanted to create.
I stamped the pig onto Crumb Cake cardstock using my MISTI since solid stamps like this usually require multiple inkings to get a good result. I then hand cut each of the three pigs out with paper snips.
The background is Soft Sky cardstock embossed with clouds using a Darice embossing folder. I glued each of the pigs down (except the bottom one which I raised using Adhesive Foam Strips) with Tombow Glue. To create the sense of flapping ears, I raise the right hear of the top pig with a piece of Adhesive Foam Strip, as well as the middle pig's left year. Of course they are each oriented in different ways to reinforce the sense of flying/floating.
The noses were created using small tan buttons that I lightly coated with Pretty in Pink ink using a sponge dauber. These were attached to the pigs using Mini Glue Dots.
The eyes were miscellaneous googly eyes which because of their small size had the dark centers "stuck". This helped me give character to each of the pigs since the top one is so high he is dizzy with rolling eyes, the center pig is kinda watching the bottom pig which is about to crash into him, and the bottom pig is oblivious to anything except that he's left the ground and is really worried about it!!!
The banner, which reminds me of those banners pulled behind airplanes with a message, was stamped onto Pretty in Pink paper using Crumb Cake, then cut out with the smallest SU Banners Framelit Die. I used a small heart punch to put a hole in the banner, then tied a piece of pink sewing thread to it so it was "being pulled" by the middle pig.
I think a lot can be read into the message of the card. Some would say that it means you finally made it, even though people never thought you would (when pigs fly). It was really fun to design it!
