Tim Holtz has a new die and embossing folder out that is a slice of a tree. I don't have the die, so I thought I'd make something similar. I took a die cut circle and cut around the edge (not carefully) with deckle scissors. Then I used a stylus and foam pad to draw the rings. Then I sponged ink over it. It's a bit more work than using a die and EF, but this way you're not limited to a single size.
