This card was made as a Design Team card for a Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch challenge. The optional theme was "winter wonderland".
I turned the sketch 90 degrees to accommodate the deer and his friend. The deer is from Stampin' Up! (SU) "Merry Patterns" stamp set, while the tree's are from "White Christmas".
After stamping the deer outline with SU Early Espresso ink, I used my SU Stamparatus stamp positioner to stamp his woolly coat inside the outline with SU Crumb Cake ink. I then cut him out using my ScanNCut, plus I cut out two more shapes from scrap cardstock that I glued to the back of him to give him stability for mailing.
The background was created by first cutting a 4"x 5-1/4" piece of light blue cardstock, then gluing a strip of white on top (per the sketch). I stamped the trees twice overlapping the "snow" and "sky" using Versafine Onyx Black ink. Since there were only 3 trees on the stamp, I stamped again on the right side of the panel just a bit further down so the trees didn't look totally identical.
After the ink dried completely, I ran this assembled stamped piece through my Sizzix Big Shot inside the SU "Softly Falling" embossing folder to create a soft winter snowfall.
The stamped and embossed piece was then glued to the SU Early Espresso card base. The thick deer was adhered to the front of the card using adhesive foam strips, and the red cardinal sticker, which already had a foam strip on the back, was adhered as if he was accompanying the deer on it's walk through the winter wonderland.
I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" only because of the need to cut him out either by hand or by machine. You could create a mask to use before stamping the trees, and then just stamp directly on the panel. I chose not to do this because even though the white cardstock is thin, stamping across it will create a thin gap along the edge. I remedied this with the trees using a brown marker to fill in that gap,,, but on the deer, it would be MUCH more apparent and hard to hide.
I may add a small holiday sentiment to the card as I start preparing it to mail, but I like it even without a sentiment.
