It is my pleasure to be your hostess this week. Our colors are Lemon Lime Twist, Balmy Blue and Berry Burst. The dessert option is to use a silhouette on your card.
Emboss Resist is one of my favorite techniques, but we don't usually see it done with black ink. Yet it works perfectly for this week's dessert option. I started by stamping the image of the Japanese woman and the Japanese character in Black VersaFine ink on Bristol cardstock. This ink stays wet long enough to sprinkle it with clear embossing powder and heat set it. Then I used my new Blending Brushes to apply the three challenge colors, suggesting sky, flowers and grass. I sprinkled this layer with a few water droplets, dried the panel, and die cut it.
The card base is Berry Burst. The second layer is Basic Black, with a cherry blossom image die cut from the panel. The focal image is popped up on foam tape. Then I liberally applied Nuvo drops and gems to finish off the card.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!

Barbara, we were thinking along almost the exact same lines! I love this beautiful geisha silhouette, one of my favorite SU sets. The black background really makes the main panel pop!

I had totally forgotten that this set had a silhouette! Lovely use of the colors and image!

Great idea to emboss with black for this stylish Asian-inspired card, Barbara. I like how the back panel with the cherry blossoms ties into the theme. A striking card.
