This week we have the pleasure of visiting the wonderful gallery of Faye (aka FayeMakesCards), our newest Featured Stamper. I loved her CAS style and use of fun designer papers throughout her gallery. I am often attracted to cards with B&W images and I love to try to capture the look of a designer paper. So it was this beauty that kept calling to me: Australian Scrap by FayeMakesCards at Splitcoaststampers
I had intended to stamp a floral image, mask and then ink blend; but I could not find my masking sheets so I went to Plan B. As it turns out, Plan B probably would have ended up my Plan A anyways because it is more to my aesthetic. I wanted to try out a couple techniques so I made two cards.
To start I created the bgs one by smooshing the DOX on my glass mat and the other by ink blending a hombre pattern. I stamped and die cut the floral images along with two other layers to pop them up a bit. On the smooshed panel I stamped "happy" in DOX to create the bg. On the ink blended panel, I stamped scratches from a grunge set in white pigment ink and heat set. I was too impatient though because by the time I finished the card, the white had completely disappeared. So no bg on that one. But I did get a vertical sentiment stamped. Assembled and added the enamel accents in the center of the pansies on the one and the little blooms on the other. Not a difficult card to make and I am really pleased with how they both look. Lots of lessons learned for next time. For instance, I thought I would like the pansies best because they had more details, but I actually like the simpler outline images of the crocus better for this look.
Congratulations Faye on being selected this week's Featured Stamper. You have a delightful and creative Gallery with much to inspire. I hope you enjoy the week and the cards made in your honor. And, I hope everyone has a happy, happy day. TFL

Wow - hard to say which one I like best, but I totally LOVE them both. Fab look to the backgrounds and the flowers are beautiful in black and white. The look is elegant and beautiful. Love where you went on these cards. Hugz

Debbie, both of these are wonderful cases of Faye's card. I love how bold the white stamped floral images look against the beautiful pink backgrounds. Gorgeous and very creative.

Lots of fun reading about your design techniques for making these pretty cards, Debbie! I really like your smooshed panel and the 'hello' sentiments. I also like the more open crocus images the best with this technique.

Fantastic case! Love both cards. The look of the black/white images on the colored background is stellar. So difficult to pick a favorite but I'm leaning towards the top one. Both cards are amazing. Into my favs.
Well done!

This is a style I haven't tried myself. I probably need to obtain some nice largish floral stamps before I do. Excuses, excuses! :-) Your cards are beautiful! If I had to pick a favourite it would probably be the pansies for the background. They are both great though!

Beautiful times 2! The inking, and stamping on BG are amazing. Awesome zigzag die-cut along with the strikingly simply stamped flowers add up to perfect...
