This card was made for Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #142, (https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog...etch-time.html) which is a sketch challenge. Now that it's at the end of August, my crafting has turned to holiday cards. I was inspired by RRCB's guest designer for this challenge, Shawna Standish, who shared a beautiful see-through card. I don't have any large format dies, but my mind immediately went to a die I bought from Stampin' Up! (SU) last year that was a string of snowflakes. So I die cut two of these from white cardstock, then glued them to the SU Balmy Blue top-folding cardstock to create a similar feel.
I then stamped the snowman in a snow storm image from SU's 2005 "A Beautiful Season" using light blue ink onto white cardstock. I felt he blended in too much with the card front, so added a tiny silver mat to him, and adhered him to the card using adhesive foam strips to raise up up for further depth.
Behind the snowman panel I tucked a silver label shape (it looks orange in the photo since it's reflecting me taking the photo), then a light blue label that is more narrow than the silver one. I attached it onto the front of the snowman panel, and backed it with adhesive foam strips where it hung out to the right of the panel. Finally, I punched a 1" wide label, and stamped the sentiment from the SU "Merry Christmas to All" set using Versamark, and heat set it after sprinkling silver embossing powder over it. It was attached to the card front using 2 stacked layers of adhesive foam strips.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" because of the delicate gluing of the snowflakes, and the careful punching of the different sized labels.
I think this will make a nice card to send to a relative this coming Christmas with it's white, light blue, and silver color theme.
